Your personal information stays on your device. ALMA does not sell, share, or transmit your personal data to third parties. Everything you tell Alma — your name, family, reminders, and memories — is stored only on your own phone or computer.
1. Who We Are
ALMA (Assisting Livability for Mature Adults) is a caring AI companion app created by Michael Forrest, Poinciana, Florida. ALMA is designed to help seniors maintain independence and manage daily life through voice-first, personalized conversation.

2. Information We Collect
ALMA collects only the information you voluntarily provide during setup and conversation, including:
- Your first name and personal preferences
- Names of family members (children, grandchildren) and friends you share
- Interests, hobbies, and daily habits
- Reminders for medications, appointments, bills, and wellness activities
- Mood check-ins and daily habit streaks
- Conversation history with Alma
All of this information is stored locally on your device only. It is never uploaded to our servers or shared with anyone.
3. How We Use Your Information
The information you share with Alma is used solely to:
- Personalize Alma's responses and remember details about your life
- Send you timely reminders for medications, appointments, and wellness activities
- Track your daily habit streaks and check-ins
- Improve the quality and warmth of your conversations with Alma
4. AI Conversation Processing
ALMA uses the Anthropic Claude AI to power conversations. When you send a message to Alma, that message — along with relevant context from your profile — is sent securely to Anthropic's API to generate a response. This is necessary for Alma to have intelligent, caring conversations with you.
Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle API data. We do not store your conversations on our own servers. Please review Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
5. Microphone and Voice Access
ALMA requests access to your device's microphone to enable voice conversations — the primary way to interact with Alma. Your voice is processed locally on your device and is only transmitted when you actively speak to Alma. We do not record or store audio files.
6. Data Storage and Security
All personal data — your profile, memories, reminders, and conversation history — is stored in your device's local storage (localStorage). This means:
- Your data never leaves your device (except for AI conversation processing as described above)
- Clearing your browser or app data will erase ALMA's memory of you
- Your data is not backed up to any cloud service by ALMA
- No one else can access your ALMA data
7. Children's Privacy
ALMA is designed for adults aged 55 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18. ALMA is not intended for use by children.
8. Third-Party Services
ALMA uses the following third-party service:
- Anthropic Claude API – for AI conversation responses. Governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
We do not use advertising networks, analytics trackers, or any other third-party data services.
9. Your Rights
Because your data is stored only on your device, you have complete control:
- Access: Your data is visible within the ALMA app at any time in the Memory tab
- Delete: Clear your browser or app data to permanently delete all ALMA data
- Correct: Update your information at any time through the app settings
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as ALMA grows and adds new features. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of ALMA after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
